|PRESCRIPTIVE DESIGN REQUIREMENTS FOR VARIOUS CIVIL & MEP SITE STRUCTURES AND SYSTEMS|
LIBRARY of STANDARD DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
In the past several years, the Afghanistan Engineering District (AED) has compiled this library of prescriptive design requirements to be used and implemented by the contractor to ensure that they meet ANSF and code requirements. These standards may also include a schematic plan layout, elevation and/or section to help illustrate the prescriptive requirements. The designs still require the contractor to provide the design per project site conditions. To simplify the construction process and encourage long-term project success, these site structures and systems are designed using locally available materials and familiar construction methods. The construction details and building systems provided are meant to allow the local work forces to construct the structures without the need for expensive or hard to find equipment (such as cranes or lifts). Simplicity and sustainability come from design features that include, for example, xxxx, xxxx, xxxx, and xxxx. Durability involves the extensive use of reinforced masonry and concrete systems, which are designed to meet seismic code and loading requirements.
The AED has prescriptive design requirements and drawings available for all the structures and systems listed herein, and is in the process of translating them into native Afghanistan languages.
This Library of Standard Design Requirements will be updated periodically, as the catalog of available prescriptive design requirements expands.
